			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After much demand here is the first installation of our series reviewing the best camping spots on each Call of Duty 4 map. We are looking for spots that are practical for competitive gameplay. This means we will not be looking at places you can strategic jump to if you have a spare 15 minutes in the middle of a frag fest. Today we will be looking at the spots on the new Call of Duty 4 maps, Creek, Chinatown, Killhouse and Broadcast. I did my best to show where the spots are with pictures but it can be a little bit difficult to get show in enclosed areas.</p>

<p>This place on Broadcast is a little more difficult to get to than others, so here are some directions on how to get there. 1. Jump on the chairs by the vending machine 2. Jump on the picture frame like objects on the wall 3. Jump from there to the top of the vending machine 4. Jump from the top of the vending machine to your final destination atop the TV. None of the jumps are particularly difficult or long, you just need to know the sequence. Once you get there it is a great location to camp because virtually no one will check upwards for enemies, so you can just pick them off as they run by.<span id="more-392"></span></p>

<p>The picture doesn&#8217;t show this very well, this location is on the 2nd story of the building with the mounted machine gun which looks into the grassy field on Chinatown. Being able to hide behind the fridge and pull an Indiana Jones and escape death every time a grenade is thrown up is extremely useful. That building receives a huge amount of fire and explosives so having a good place to hide is paramount.</p>

<p>This picture is of the trail on Creek right below the major, more travel trial. You can get to it by either dropping down from the upper trail or walking over the various log bridges to it. It is a great camping spot because it gives you visual access to the trial above you, the entrance to the cave and the large open field on the other side. Basically you are covering all possible travel points that an enemy player can take. Couple this with the fact that you blend right into the wall and most Call of Duty 4 players don&#8217;t bother checking it for enemies and you have a great spot.</p>

<p>Killhouse might be the most hated map, after Shipment for Call of Duty 4 players but with a proper number of players it can still be enjoyable. This spot under the wooden stairs is most useful if you are playing with a large number of people though because you have such a small range of movement under the wooden structure. It can come in extremely handy if you just want to spawn kill on Free for All games to level (although I don&#8217;t recommend that strategy).</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Map Design isn&#8217;t just giving people a place to frag, it is an art form. In a good map players of all skill levels and play styles can interact and partake in a balanced game of Call of Duty 4, without the map ever getting boring or tedious. Map design is an exceedingly complex part of video game design, and I don&#8217;t pretend to be an expert in that area. What pains me though is when a perfectly good map is ruined, not because of the graphic design elements, not because of glitches in the code, but because of a fundamental misunderstanding in how the game play flows in a first person shooter .</p>
<p>The example of this poor map design is Creek. When it first came out with map pack containing three other maps it was greeted warmly, but after playing actually playing it a few times the opinions started to change. People complained that game play on the map was stagnant and the only way to get kills was to camp. Normally this would be discounted as typical gamer whining, but on Creek there was actually some truth to this accusation. The problem with Creek is there are only 3 points of travel, or choke points, noted in the image below (A is the path through the cave, B is the path over the mountain, and C is the wide opening next to the mountain).</p>

Want to try to interact with the opponent via a different path? Tough luck, the way Creek is designed the only way to do that is to drill through a freakin mountain. In some situations having only 3 choke points would be manageable, but Creek is such an open map that a single Sniper on either side of the map can have a clear view of every choke point. Once positioned the Sniper can just sit there and pick off enemies. Players trying to bust through a choke point have virtually no hope of success, and have drastically lower kill death ratios. As a result your typical 30 person TDM Creek has 22 Snipers camping on either end with 8 guys running back and forth getting shot until time runs out. This fails the fun test which is ultimately why Creek is such a flawed map.</p>
<p>So please Infinity Ward/Activision, next time you release a map pack make sure you actually test the map with real players first, it&#8217;s sort of important.</p>

The map pack gives PC users 4 free new maps, Broadcast, Chinatown, Killhouse and Creek(pictured at right).</p>

<p>I can personally confirm that this download is 100% legit having used it myself. You need the 1.6 patch for the 1.7 patch to work so be sure to install the 1.6 patch first.</p>
