Shotgun Tips and Guide for COD4 Call of Duty 4

A lot of Call of Duty 4 players feel that Shotguns are terrible weapons because of their lack of range; but if you have ever seen a skilled Shotgun class player you know this not to be the case. Shotguns can be amazing weapons, but the way you move and kill enemies with them is different than any other gun most people lack the skill to use them to their full potential. So here is a quick guide on how to use the shotguns in Call of Duty not just in close range situations, but to dominate any map and in any scenario. The key to pwning with the Shotgun in video games in general is not your aiming ability, the spread of the pellets is so large it’s almost impossible to miss, the key is to position yourself so your target is always within firing range. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that you can’t get a kill with the M1014 if the guy your shooting at is half way across the map. Yet still see Call of Duty players trying to run into huge wide open places with their Shotgun only to be destroyed at range with a LMG.

Therefore to dominate with the Shotgun what you need to do is always move in small enclosed areas where you cannot be killed with a range weapon. This means avoiding high points on the map, getting to cover as long as possible and occasionally camping if you have to. Most players aren’t used to this style of play in Call of Duty 4 so you really need to make a conscious effort to move smart.

There are some maps where you have to move through wide open spaces, so if you get to a safe place and switch over to your Pistol or Overkill weapon. Equipping Extreme Condition in Perk slot 3 can also be useful on more open maps where running across without cover is unavoidable. Try out these movement tips for the Shotgun and you should be able dominate all your friends at Call of Duty 4 in no time.

I thought the same not long ago….Shotgun is the most crappiest type of weapon ever…..but not long ago I got bored and i tried using the Shotgun…..it took me about 7 days to get my very loved Golden Shotty….. =P

Now I think differently about shotgun….I think they are one of the best….that is IF you can use them and know how to handle it….

I was just messing around and used the shotgun tonight and had never really used it before, it was hilarious I was getting in the top 3 every single game for like probably 10-15 games on free for all. Just go up to people and straight up head shots…soo funny!

i used a shotgun for a whole prestige now and ive grown to love them so im really good with shotguns but rubbish with other weapons

Completed the M1014 challenged (both of them) in one match, and it was my first time using shotguns.
I recommend

Bandolier
Stopping power
steady aim (the one that allows you to fire mroe accurately from hip)

IT was basically 1 hit K-O, and to play around effectively with the shotgun, use lots of cover and get pretty much close for 1hit kills.

After playing with the shotty for a while now i have
realised the ultimate tactic for owning with it…

its not all about stealth and its
not even all about clever movement
although these are important and help alot

the thing u need most is SPEED!
run about and dont stop moving

even wen u r shooting at sum1 face to face
dont take for granted 1 shot will always kill
so shoot and move quickly coz if he doesnt die in
1 shot and ur standing still then ur going to die

always try to anticipate peoples movement
and where they will be standing at certain points of the map
az this will give u a good idea of where you must be in order to hit them

and finally dont be scared to fire from the hip as this
is really handy wen u dont expect an enemy or dont
know the exact position of some1 in a room or behind a wall

the best class for me is:
W1200 – w/ grip
Side Arm: Any
Special Grenade: stun
Perk 1: weapon attachment
Perk 2: Sleight of hand
Perk 3: extreme conditioning

i havent read the article but i would be smart and use cover only fight in close quarter combat . good perks to use are any of the 1s perks or grip then any thing besides stopping power for the third us steady aim , extreme conditoning, or maybe even dead silince. if ur good dont use martydom if u get killed the guy has to be far away and a grenade wont kill him

Ok, for those who dont understand UAV jammer. You need it with a shotgun for 1 reason, to shotty someone you need to be close, if enemies see you on UAV, thell take you out before you can get behind their lines!!! so i reccomend it with the first shotty as thats a 1 hit KO without Sp or the golden shotty.

I thump so hard with the Shotty. I played the first 3 prestiges with nothing but.
Right now I have 2 different Shotty classes.

Gold Shotty with Bandolier, Stopping Power and Last stand.

and

Red W1200 with Grip, Stopping power and Last stand

I have so many crazy techniques that people think I’m cheating.

I like to run at people and jump at them as I shoot.

I also whip the iron-sights up as I shoot to auto lock onto people and thump them out in one shot.

I have such long range on my shotty that people with Mics ALWAYS complain about it. saying that Shotties can’t shoot that far.

And for those people talking about shooting from the hip..
I perfer to scope in because I am very self aware of myself and how I look when I play.
And I feel that hip fire is a novice trait..

Basically, my play-style is Hollywood Killcams.
I pull of stunt-kills!!!

I started using my W1200 because i needed more Xp and i finshed the whole marksman challenge set in one Shipment match. i got my M1014 after that match and pwned with that for an hour till I got my 50 kills.

ok guys i would love to give you all my shotgun secrets but here are a couple
do not use any attatchments, and you do not need steady aim, and lets think about it your opponent is halfway across the map, how do you slow him down a little to catch up…..think about it

dont use deep impact on the shottys it doesnt add any damage atall
deep impact is to help u shoot through more surfaces

use a head set for dead silence and use extreme conditioning in bigger maps
stay in small areas and when u move use cover and think how could u get to the enemy in the safet fastes way

NEVER aim down the sight on a shotgun, it widens the pellet spread. always fire from the hip. My Setup is:

Bomb Squad (Helps a lot when flanking)

Grip is not worth the benefit. Use 3x special grenades, 3x frag, or RPG.

i’m the best shotgunner on 360 i think…. i’m the one who really started making shotguns popular on the 360…. people didn’t know you can use shotgun on every map and thought it was only made for maps like Shipment, Vacant and Wetworks… but i changed a lot of perspectives… and hurt a lot of feelings to a point that i see so many f’ing shotguns now… it makes me smile…. i’m a proud daddy

over 300,000 kills combined and i would say about 200,000 of those is by the shotgun

cod4 ghost shotguns are pure skill. people new to the game use ak47 which is an all purpose weapon with no special place to use it. people on cod 4 are stupid and rely heavily on UAV. put on uav jammer, extreme condition and a shotgun and rape ass

Hey everyone,
I am the creator of the SM* clan on Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare for the pc. SM stands for Shotgun Master and I gather up the best shotgun users in the game, other than those already in other clans. By the way, my xfire is randall103. When cod 4 came out, I didn’t buy it for 6 months, I just watched my friend play and occasionally played myself. I bought it once I got my PS3 and I was primarily a sniper, but then unfortunately I broke my wrist. I was put in a difficult situation; I could either not play, or find a gun that would not require excess use of my left hand (the broken wrist side). So then I figured I would pick up a shotgun. That moment changed my gaming life forever. As my wrist healed, I got to the highest rank on the 10th prestige. It only took me six months to do including the time when I broke my wrist. I was also working and going to school at the same time. Then I got rid of my PS3 and took a break from gaming for almost two years because I was getting too attached to it. Then this past summer I decided to play on my laptop because I got rid of my PS3. My shotgun senses kicked in and I started a rampage-like frenzie killing everything in sight. Basically, I love shotguns and I am very good with both the M1014 and the W1200. My all time favorite class is:

M1014 with C4, UAV Jammer, and Dead Silence. (with a frag and stun grenade)

Why? Well I feel like shotgunners need the element of surprise and must be stealthy to go unnoticed behind enemy lines. UAV Jammer and Dead Silence provide that. Then I use my frag grenade and stun to take out initial contact. Then I use my C4 to throw through windows, blow up cars, etc, to kill snipers and what not. For those who like otherwise, here are two other good classes:

1. M1014 with Grip, Sleight of Hand, and either Dead Silence or Extreme Conditioning.

2. W1200 with Grip (or C4), Double Tap, and either Extreme Conditioning or Dead Silence.
