How to Increase your FPS in Call of Duty 4

when i first install cod 4 i hed 60 fps (i had catalist 8.2 )and when i upgradet catalist version8.3 but fps fall to 30
WTF ):????

You probably have vertical sync on, try switching it off and enjoy the higher fps! =)

I have entered some commands in COD4 and I cant remember which ones. I was wondering if there’s a way to reset all commands to default.

Hi all,i have nvidia gf9600gt DDR3 512 mb,processor ADM 64x 6000+ 3.11Ghz and i have just 100 fps in cod4 everybody tell’s me i need to have at least 250 lock!
I set everything on low a resolution on 1024*768…

demigod who ever told you that does not know what they are talking about. if you are running 100fps then you should have a very smooth game. that is the default max for cod4 you can adjust it higher to 125fps by using your console and changing your maxfps to 125fps. but thats as high as it will go.

change your maxfps to 0 this will allow your card to go as fast as it can mine is currently at 612fps

Your eyes only detect max of 60 fps, so knowing that important fact
set ur \com_maxfps 125 and \com_maxpackets 100 in console comand
this will give u optimum FPS plosibo
really 60 fps is good

There is no such a thing as 199 fps that works better then ur game seting at defult 90 fps
Its all depends on a server settings server lag and ur internet connection
and ofcourse ur PC O/S

i got a toshiba laptop for my b-day and i am playing cod4 and i get 19 fps looking in the sky, and if i look towards the middle of the map i get like 2-4 fps, is it because it is a laptop?

hey guys i have a nvidia geforce 8500GT with 2×2.4GHz processors and 3gb ram and i only get 30fps.. i did maxpackets, snaps, lowest graphics (on 1024×768 or whatever it is) but i thought a 512mb video card would run better :S if you can help add my xfire shallstrike thanks in advance =)

Thanks for the site and helpful info but with regards to the MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS: I’m using a 7600, THE ONLY THING I BATTLE PLAYING IS GTA.

I get 200 FPS on my Intel Core 2 Quad PC, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia 9800 GX. No lags No Bugs
Laptops are not for gaming. That is why its a bit choppy
50-60 FPS is good too but not below 50 lol >:)

Get Game Booster ( Just google it ) , it can increase your FPS rate and your System speed. I hope I helped a bit

I run CoD at 70-90 FPS, but everytime I join a map, I get some lag spikes for about 1 minute.
This can happen, if like 3 grenades explodes right in my face too.. Then I get the lag spikes.

My comp isnt totally new, but not a sh*tty one either.

Please help me out.

and i play everthing maxxed at 1024×768 when im looking to the side of map its like 60 fps and up but when i look at the center of the map
i get 30 fps

Lets say i lag whenever im in smoke or near smoke. If i uninstall some things will it get better?

Okay, for everyone who is saying smoke is a problem: No there is nothing you can to fix this, everyone has this problem, i go from 250 constant to about 170 in smoke.

laptops: dont plan on getting high fps unless you buy a laptop specifically for gaming, even then you might only get ~90 with lowest settings.

Ram will not help to much unless you want to run multiple programs at once while playing, although ram is always nice.
a good graphics card, and cpu are good. if you have a better cpu, it proccesses whats goin on faster so maps will load faster and it will seem smoother, and having a good graphics card helps MOST.

if you are playing max settings and getting lower fps, than you shouldnt be playing max settings, lose the eye candy, but gain the fps to play the game better if your serious about playing.

Hey, I was wondering if there is any way to make the fps you get more constant? Because i get 250 but it starts going crazy and Goes up and down….

While many coaches have the best of intentions, they haven’t updated their training methods in order to compete with a new generation of athletes and expectations. It doesn’t make them bad, but it does make it nearly impossible to consistently win games and races against progressive, 21st Century programs. Because they don’t understand that speed, strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance are all skills requiring specific attention during practice (regardless of sport) they have athletes who simply aren’t prepared to compete at high levels.
