How to Get Headshots in Call of Duty 4
Getting headshots is part of the long arduous journey to red tiger camo and Call of Duty 4 leetness. Unfortunately headshots are also time consuming and difficult to achieve. One not so ethical/leet way to do this is to join servers specifically set up for players to exchange mutual headshots. This obviously isn’t recommended, not only because it is in a sense cheating, but because headshot challenges are there so you can improve as a player at COD4. So how can we legitmately get more headshots in Call of Duty 4?
- Aim for the head - I know it’s obvious, but people usually aim for the center of the body because it gives you the best chance at a normal kill. Aiming for the head might intially lower your Kill to Death ratio but eventually your increased skill should compensate.
- Sneak Up Behind People - If you can stealthly outflank your enemy, you shouldn’t waste that hard earned position with a bunch of knife kills. Instead after sneaking up behind them take very very careful aim at their head and fire. Make sure you actually hit and kill your target, there is nothing more embrassing as messing up and having the enemy turn around and shoot you in the face. This works best if you have a Silenced weapon/UAV Jammer so that you can take out multiple targets.
- Don’t Use the ACOG - Overall the ACOG is an excellent scope but it just isn’t optimal for headshots. It’s small but annoying sway makes it difficult to place the your sights on the targets head. This isn’t a hard and fast rule for all weapons though, if you are more comfortable and can aim better with the ACOG use it.
- Give Yourself Time - If you meet face to face with an enemy you can’t take the time to carefully set up and aim for the head, by the time you do you will be dead. If you see your target even 0.5 seconds before they see you it gives you have time to quickly put your cursor on their head as opposed to just spraying from the hip. This means sitting back in some situations and camoflauging yourself to gain the advtange.
- Play a Lot - You aren’t going to get headshots sitting at work and earning a living, quit your job and set your priorities straight. Only kidding, if you are reading this website by society’s standerds you probably put too much time into COD4 anyway. What I really mean to say here is don’t get frustrated and quit by the sheer size of the task of getting 150 headshots on 22 weapons. Take it slowly and enjoy the game, and focus on headshots at the same time.
Keep in mind that headshots is only the games convulted method of measuring skill. In reality the number of headshots you can get has little to nothing to do with how good you are at Call of Duty. Please comment and tell us your own methods of getting headshots.

If you’re not in a rush I’d suggest waiting until your confident to go for headshots (at least when you don’t have the element of surprise). It’s so much more natural and satisfying for me. I’ve noticed when I’ve been playing a lot or am just in the zone headshots seem just as easy as body shots.

when sniping, if the other guy is stopped AND aiming at you, especially if another sniper, then shoot as fast as quickly and as accurately as possible. otherwise, hold your breath and take your time.
each prestige i try to get a different golden weapon(to keep it challenging). Use the dot instead of the ACOG, and flash people. Its so much fun to through a flash into a room of campers, lay down on the ground, watch them spray the walls for a second, then blow their brains out.

Look, ingnore all of that shit. If u want to get easy headshots in call of duty 4 the best way is to do a cage match. You can get red camo on a weapon of your choice in about an hour. Quick, huh. What you do is join a cage match, ask the person you are versing if u want to take turns giving each other headshots. Then you simply take turns of shooting each other in the head until u both get to 45 points each.
I actually mentioned the mentioned the method of exchanging headshots. If all you want is to do is get the camo quickly it is probably the method for you. Many people, myself included, enjoy the challenge posed by getting headshots and the feeling of accomplishment after you have gotten them all.

I find that it is much easier to get headshots when your opponents are using the last stand perk. They lie on the ground for 15 seconds which is usually plenty of time to line up a shot, and their pistol shots are usually not too hard to avoid. That being said, I don’t play online, only over LANs…
Two things spring to mind. The first is that it is easier to get headshots from full auto weapons because of the natural rise of the barrel in sustained fire. As was correctly stated in an earlier post, most people go for body shots for the kill (I do anyway), so you have a greater chance of your final shot being in the face of your opponent (which is nice;)). The main problem I have is with single action weapons like the G3. The (partial) solution I’m working with is to not use your sight/scope as much. You have a lot more time if you hip fire to adjust your aim (works well in conjunction with the “Steady Aim” perk) and if you can train yourself to keep your cross hairs at a slightly higher level as you move about you’ll naturally get a better chance at the head. I’ve been doing this for a few days and am getting a substantial rise in head shots.

u forgot to put in that if ur on a map wit a turret, u can just hide near a wall aim at his head and blow his brains out
you also can do mulitplayer byyour self but use the other controller as your alive but dead target and paratice on that it help me but the only thing is tath you can make your wepons and use that
Anonymous 20 was a big help. The first few times i was actually TRYING to go for headshots you kind of get flustered. If you get well adjusted it becomes natural.
play domination.. you really get LOTS of sniper kills/headshots easily.. 25+ kills a game if ur fairly good. Even nooby snipers get 15-20 kills a game. + its great practice if ur not good at S&D yet. Once u get good enough i would highly sugest moving to s&d for more exp vs achievments.
combine 1.Bandolier 2.UAV Jammer 3.Dead Silence. Also I would recommend playing a free for all game seeing as there are some noobs playing and just camp all the time. Good Luck !!!!!
i have used the acog for the g36 c and it turns heads into bullet magnets, i used silencer for mp5 and reddots for m16 and m4 those were easy, the p90 is good with a red dot, and the best snipers in the game to use are the r 700 and .50 cal Bandolier is critical because you have to kill alot of people to get alot of headshots

Unlike the other people who say just aim for the head its not always that simle, specially on game types like s and d or h and q, wait until u r comfratable and there are actually ppl worse than u that r playing i just got better at them after 55 five star commander
Cage match is the easiest way to get head shots. do not ask the other opponent to take turns and shoot each other in the head because that is just lame. I like playing cage match because I don’t have to worry about another enemy flanking me. so I take more time aiming at the head of the other player.
I agree with your statement about the acog, except on one weapon: the G36C. My bro was using it one day (I prefered the M4 before this, so I didn’t use it) and I noticed it has almost ZERO SWAY. (atleast on the pc) Standing up it seems to have about a tenth the sway of the acog on other weapons. Try it.
Also: I recommend the RD and Stopping power for the M16, because it kills in 1 burst (even without sp) However, the first two shots in that burst seem to be very closely together, while the third sometimes rises or strays. So with stopping power you 2 shot headshot kill at long range, and it’s even possible to get some headshots on running targets.
Also, if you have a favorite weapon, don’t really concern yourself about headshots with it. Since you use it alot, they will occurr over time with little effort

Ok i dont use lmg,smg,sniper,or assault, I only use the shotgun to get headshots.Be addvised that trying to get headshots with a shotgun may sound easy because you only need 25 to 100 but its still more challenging.My way of getting headshots with a shotgun is to play in maps that have close ranges and not somewhere where you can get sniped or even medium ranges so if you want shotgun headshots play at maps like showdown or go in the building with the atak in overgrOWN.

Touching yourself while playing always increases the headshot amount.

When your face to face with an enemy just jump it will move your sights upwards-straight towards the head SIMPLE AS THAT.
I always do it works alot although I dont do it for the HS i do it so its harder for the enemy to kill me although the HS is a extra bonus
And also dont worry about HS just play the game and once in a while they will come.

My method of gaining headshots is when sniping to take your time and only aim for shots you can land headshots off such as when ppl are sniping or when they are on MG’s
