COD4 Call of Duty 4 Weapon Stats Chart, Description and Guide
This is probably the most important piece of Call of Duty 4 related strategy information out there. Knowing exactly how the weapons work on their most basic level is the key to making smart weapon choices and in turn improving at Call of Duty.
This chart is totally up to date with the latest game tweaks, and the information comes from the actual program files of the game. Do not trust the in game bar graphs that are supposed to display the weapon stats, they are totally wrong. Be sure to look at the damage multipliers as well as the initial damage for each weapon, when you multiply the two you get the final bullet damage. Last updated September 18, 2008.

Some quick notes, players begin each game with 100 health, for Hard Core mode health is reduced to 30. Golden Guns or Camo provide no benefit to the weapon besides looking cool. There are also several bizarre exceptions to the Call of Duty weapons data on the chart noted in the list below.
- To hit with the knife the target must be within the middle half of the screen and within 128 units distance wise.
- The AK47’s damage becomes 40-20 when equipped with the Silencer or Red Dot.
- Ak74u Hip Accuracy goes down to Medium with the Red Dot or Silencer.
- M40 damage changes to 75 with the ACOG
- On PCs sprint distance is increased by x1.75 with the P90, on consoles it has been fixed to be 1.
- The M21 also has an increased sprint distance of x1.75.
- Some knifing motions are slower when you have the G3 equipped with Silencer out.
-The SAW’s hip accuracy goes to medium when equipped with the Grip.

Your damage multipliers for the Dragunov and R700 have been switched. The R700 should have the 1.1 multiplier to the lower torso, and the Dragunov should have the 1.0.
Also, the M21 has a 1.0 and not a 1.1 multiplier to the lower torso

According to this, there is no reason to take a G36c over a M4? As they are the same except M4 reloads faster and shoots faster.. Can that really be true? Since you unlock the G36c later and it would make it a pointless weapon.
Surely it should have some kind of advantage???

are the M40 and M21 RPM numbers switched? M40 is bolt and M21 is semi-auto but M40 RPM is higher than M21 on the chart.
The G36c does have advantages over the M4, they are just difficult to display clearly in the chart. Basically when you use the sights the G36c sways much less than the M4. If you crouch or go prone with the G36c the gun sway decreases even more. The G36c is unique in this manner, it is the only primary weapon whose sway depends on your position. The G36c also has a different recoil than the M4. So there are several reasons to choose the G36c over the M4.

are you planning on showing these “advanced” stats. you could make a second chart showing the more intricate details to complement this first chart.

arent these things in the weaponfile in iw_11.iwd? the red dot and silencer damages for the ak are still 40-20, so this wasnt fixed in 1.5
Sorry the Ak47 bug still exists for PC’s. I had heard that it was fixed for consoles, so I assumed they fixed it for PC’s as well. I have changed the post to reflect this.

According to EncyClanpedia, there’s only Low and Medium penetration types because High and Medium are the same. Thus, the Barrett shouldn’t really have a “deeper” impact than the other sniper rilfes.
I will check on that. Bullet penetration is such a complex characteristic I might end up making up just for it.
Shouldn’t that be hip accuracy goes DOWN to medium on the AK-74u and not up?
Yes you are correct I phrased that sentence poorly. The Hip Accuracy becomes worse when you equip Red Dot or Silencer on the AK74u.
Is this chart actually like the stats? If so how come guns in the game have all the bars and stuff?
The in game bars that are supposed to represent the weapon stats are 100% wrong. This chart is the real stats of the weapons, taken directly from the code in the games program files. I have no idea why the game designers would put inaccurate stats in the game but they did.
so this is basically exactly 100% accurate?
oh and you made a small mistake the r700 holds 4 bullets while the m40 holds 5 bullets
if it’s taken from the code, then theoretically, yes it should be 100% accurate. those game charts are just premade graphics files and there’s been patches to change the damage values (such as MP5).
In regards to the accuracy of the chart BorisYeltsnFart is spot on. I thought I had fixed the R700 and M40 capacity but I guess I uploaded the wrong image, this will be fixed shortly.
What sort of damage does the mounted M249 do, and do perks such as Stopping Power and Deep Penetration affect it?
I think it does normal damage just at a much higher rate of fire. As for perks affecting it that would be nice because sp should be able to work on the jugs.

btw, just from experience while using the ak47 it seems that when i put a silencer on it, the gun becomes much more acurate. true???

MINE ARE
1. ak47 gold, silencer, bandolier, stopping power, and increased hipfire
2. g3 red tiger, red dot, bandolier, stopping power, and dead silencer
Yeah, that makes sense. I still wanna know if perks affect it, because a mounted M249 with Stopping Power and Deep Penetration would tear the hell out of everything in a matter of seconds.
Are you sure the dragunov has the same damage capabilities as the .50 cal? i have used both and i 1 shot drop people much easier with the .50 cal.
The AK47 doesn’t have an increased accuracy or decreased recoil with the silencer. The said the silencer does make it easier to aim because it reduces muzzle flash and it has very good iron sights.
I am not certain whether or not perks affect the mounted machine gun, I will find out. My guess is that they do, but it doesn’t make much of a difference because of it’s so powerful to begin with.
My two current favorite classes are,
RDP with Grip, Stopping Power and Deep Impact
M21 with Scope, Claymore, UAV Jammer, Iron Lungs (Mostly for Hardcore matches)
The Sniper damage stats are the ones people question the most, yes they are 100% correct. The Barrett has a higher damage multiplier than the Dragunov which makes it easier to one shot kill people.

I think stopping power gives a damage multiplier of 1.4 (correct me if i’m wrong). But can anyone tell me how much extra health juggernaut gives? Just trying to figure out the best weapons for taking them down.

good Question, wanted to ask something like that as well - if i use the AK47 with a Silencer, the range seems to be reduced dramatically (unlikely to other weapons): I can not hit people over even a middle distance - besides this i think the damage is reduced.

The AK47’s damage does go down with the Silencer’s which means at long range it takes an unusually high amount of shots to get a kill.
The 1.6 patch for PC comes out today with four new maps which will probably fix a lot of the bugs which could change some of the weapon exceptions. I will be updating the chart with the new changes shortly.
I think your deagle hip fire is wrong. I only hipfire the deagle because…. it’s not quite as precise, but it has almost no recoil. I can easily rack up a 10+ kill streak hipfiring the deagle. (though I do use the sights for sniping with the deagle at long range)
The hip fire stats for the Deagle are correct, they simply give the area of the crosshairs for the weapon. The reason the Deagle is easier to hip fire in some situations is that you have a full view of your target. However hen you use the Deagle’s sights the immense width of the weapon blocks your view of the target which makes it harder to get a kill.
This may be a stupid question, but would it be possible to edit these values clientside and pump up your weapons? I opened the file that you pulled this stuff from for myself and then i got to thinking about this.
You could alter the values clientside, but you either the game or punkbuster would kick you from any server you try to join. It is possible to alter the all of these settings server side with a game mod. Modded servers do not show up in the normal server list though, only under the modded servers list.
Hey cod4source I was wondering why else I should use the G36C it has changed recoils but I’m gonna use it with a silencer and the iron sights are just too poor
the G36c has more recoil than the M4 but i prefer the G36c because when you are looking through the sights or the red dot it has WAYYY less sway so you can single shot and Easily get long range kills (unlike the m4)……. the AK-47 range/damage stats are the same with the red dot or the silencer…this is the Only weapon in the game that the Red Dot affects range/damage. the AK with iron sights has damage of 40/30…..The AK with the Red Dot or silencer has damage of 40/20.. wich means at longer range the AK will only do 20 damage instead of 30…. and at close range it will still do 40 damage….in COD4, when a weapon is silenced it doesnt really reduce the range… it simply lowers the damage at longer ranges….i hope that helped clear up some stuff

Wait cod4source i don’t get what you mean by knifing with the silenced g3 is slower?
Basically when you knife a certain way with the silenced G3 it is slower than that same knifing motion with all the other weapons. This makes it more difficult to get knifing kills. The slowness only applies to the slash attack of knives, not the stab attack. I will be adding some more info about how knives work to the weapon chart in the near future.

No you should still knife with the g3 and silencer. There are two types of knife attacks, slash and stab. Slash attacks happen when you are right up against the target and your knife is perfectly centered on them. If either of these conditions isn’t met you default to a stab attack. Both do the same amount of damage, but only the slash knife attack is slowed down with the G3 and silencer. It is still possible to get a kill if you slash with G3 equipped with the silencer, but its likely the enemy will have time to knife you back.
I have only taken a quick look at the program files since the 1.6 patch but it appears it didn’t change much. The sprint bugs, AK47 damage bugs etc. all seem to still exist. I would guess they will fix those in the 1.7 patch, fixing the multiplayer server exploit and adding the news maps probably took up most of their time.
The 400 damage for the knife comes from the program files, but I can’t say I have actually tested it in an old school match. It should one hit kill because players start with 200 health in old school matches, I will try it out in game to confirm this.
Hope this helped clear up some of the questions, time to go do some more research on this.
i keep hearing people say that the m40 is more accurate than the r700. what do they mean when they say “more accurate”? if i point the crosshair at a point, hold my breath, and shoot, is the m40 going to hit closer to the center of my scope than the r700? based on this chart, there doesn’t seem to be any accuracy stat, so are they talking about recoil or what? recoil seems to be the only weapon property that isn’t accounted for by the chart.
All guns have the exact same accuracy, they will shoot exactly where you point it. Where they differ is recoil and gun sway. Gun sway and recoil both move the weapon around away from where it initially aimed which makes it more difficult to fire accurately. It is true that the R700 has higher sway and recoil than the M40, but it also has greater damage multipliers. Recoil and gun sway are difficult to display numerically. Playing the weapon gives you a much better feel for it’s recoil values than just throwing some numbers up on the chart.
thanks. when you say: “All guns have the exact same accuracy, they will shoot exactly where you point it.”, do you mean when they are scoped/zoomed? because i was under the impression that when hip-fired, a bullet could go anywhere in the space between the crosshair markers. but when scoped, the shots are always exact?(barring sway and recoil).
Yes I should have clarified hip fire vs. scope fire. When you are hip firing all you know is that the bullets will go somewhere between the crosshairs. When scope or aim down your sights the bullets will always go exactly where you aim. All recoil does is change where you aim, and consequently where the bullet goes.

wouldnt the acog scope make all weapons do more damage becaue the range is increased, so closer targets would recieve more damage?
The ACOG does not increase your range. All it does it gives you a better visual look at the target. All bullet travel the same no matter what scope you have, except for bugged weapons like the AK47 with red dot.

i think tou may have mixed up the rate of fire on m40 and m21
The shotgun reloading numbers are the times it takes for the first round to be reloaded, and then each round after that. Shotgun reloading works differently than all the other weapons.
Players in Hardcore matches begin with 30 health, players in normal matches begin with 100.
The rate of fire for the M40 and the M21 are correct. Single shot weapons can be shot incredibly quickly if you have a fast hand.
actually i think the fire rate is mixed up because the M21 can fire faster way than the M40 but on the chart M21 has 70 and M40 has 300

My issue is that i have seen posted around people stating that you can change the m21 sniper to silenced with extra camo. Is this only available for the pc?

m14 scilenced and you cant change M21 to make it scilenced only in campaign actually i think the m21 is never scilenced… well i dont have it on computer but i have played it on the computer and you could do no such thing

why is it on your chart the m21 rifle does the 70 damage but i have to shoot 3 times on th torso to kill?
hey codd4source. i think i found an error on your chart. You gave the m21 a fire rate of 70 rpm and the m1041 (which is bolt action not semi auto like the m21) a fire rate of 300rpm. Shouldn’t that be the other way around?

Hmmm…. Just want to say, regarding accuracy of firing with snipe weapons: Having worked all my sniper weapons up to gold dragonov, I can say that some of the sniper rifles will give more misses than hits, even when targeting the target correctly. Example, the R700 will miss 50% of the time when you are aiming directly at the target, where the m21 will hit about 95% of the time, the dragonov seams to be around 75% hits, and the 50cal is around 90% hits…. This is not statistical data, or anything from the program code… but this is how it feels from actually playing….
Also, noticed you do not list this… but scorpion with silencer has unlimited range… unless that was fixed in later updates?
all weapons can do damage at an unlimited distance. Range just decides how much damage it does within a set amount. Skorpion 50 max damage within 200 units, 20 at 400 and anything farther then that. dont know what difference it makes with silencer really, i just always play as if i only do 20 per bullet.

I mostly snipe with the Dragunov, and I can’t confirm what you are saying, my Dragunov hits exactly where I want it. As for R700, same there. If you shoot on someone and the bullet don’t hit, it’s because of lag, either on your client side or the target’s client side. (which makes your computer think that the target is somewhere that it is actually not, for example 1 meter behind it’s real position. Then if you shoot 1 meter behind where you _think_ the target is, of course it will miss. Thats’s the flaw about playing on the internet…)

and can u do any work on grenade damage with the explosion perk? helicopter damage? shot gun grip ACC increase?
What does the damage range mean for the weapons, is it that the damage a gun does will randomly fall somewhere in that range? You just have to get lucky to get the higher damage value or is there another factor involved?
I mean like the amount of damage it does like 40-30 not range as in distance
You guys should make a video showing how far the ranges are. That would help a lot cause I have no idea how far 750, 1000, 1500, and 2000 are.

could you tell me what affects camo on the magazine of the gun coz sometimes you have it and sometimes you dont, e.g. P90
the p90’s magazine doesn’t get a camo because its transperent (can’t spell but you get the point) and they programed it so it always shows it empty. i would think full would at least be cooler but o well. anyways this chat is very good but a sway and recoil really would help or at least perks chart

to number 92. You can have an idea of the distance in numbers by using the square boxed areas on either side of bloc. These are 400 units by 400 units. I have used this and it has helped me out after recognising each distance

Can you please explain what the range stats mean in more detail? For example the Skorpion has 200-400 range. That means that above 400 range can’t even hit the enemy? Also the first range value e.g. 200 for skorpion means that it will do 50 damage and above 200 it will do 20 damage?
is the difference between 40-20 and 40-30 that big? how much easier would you be able to kill someone without an attachment on?
just another question to throw in here, does the grip just reduce recoil for shotguns, or does it affect the spread in some way?
The bullets go on forever and all have infinite range it’s just that some are weaker than others at longer distances. However, the shotguns’ pellets don’t go on forever, so what’s the longest distance that you can hit someone from? And how many of the pellets will hit due to the spread of a shotgun?
your stats for the skorpion seem way off — the gun is far more accurate due to it’s tiny amount of recoil, and i’ve hit players clear across a map with it. many leagues do not allow its’ use because of this.
100. It takes an extra bullet to kill at 25 meters instead of 50, no different than any other AR.
101. Damage decreases at a constant rate between the maximum and minumum damage range.
102. 30 damage = 4 bullets, 20 =5.
103. I think it just affects verticle recoil.
104. 25 yards, maybe less. The pellets stick together well but damage begins to drop at 20 ft.

Are you sure about the M14’s penetration level, because I’ve read elsewhere that it is high, not medium.
How many hit points do Stopping Power and Juggernaut add? 25?
Are the gun exceptions listed above affect all? As in PC Ps3 and Xbox ? Or just the one that says “On PC” that affects PC ?
Unless it is noted otherwise the exceptions apply to everything, PS3, Xbox, PC. There are a few though (P90 sprint bug for instance) that only occur on the PC. I will respond to the rest of the questions here when I get a chance tomorrow.

Hm i stuck a silener on an M14, with the perk Stopping Power. so the damages should be (except the head) 70-56.
I know silencers reduce range but, the minimum damage if Out of Range should be 56 right? Coz it takes me 3 shots to kill someone.
Ok, on the console, why is it that when i see someone with a P90 running, he is able to shoot and run at the same time as well as run sideways and shoot (When your character stops and has to ready his gun before he can shoot or he will start shooting but the bullets will be in a line going diagonally to the center of the screen)? I do not think that you can run sideways at all because i have tried it and failed… i always die when i am up against a guy with a P90 that is running because of that alone, i only kill him if i am at a distance or he is running the other way.
Oh, and when i am using a sniper. Why do my bullets disappear/never leave the gun? i am aiming straight at a guy, nothing is in the way or i am near a wall, and i shoot but i never see the yellow flash meaning nothing is going over to kill the guy looking straight at me and readying to kill me… i think i kinda know how to stop this, but it is really annoying… i lose kills when this happens and i usually go 20+ Kills to 10- deaths because of this… 0.0
oh, and i would stick to the M4 Carbine if on the console, it is really accurate with red dot and it doesnt take much to kill the person.. plus if you have bandoleer it seems like you never run out of bullets, ive taken that gun, in death match, on a 20 kill spree, and i never moved that far and my targets were always across the map so no picking up ammo or anything, its a great gun
deep impact does not help you kill some one and I say the best wepon to take down juggernaughts are snipers or assault rifles
deep impact helps though, i get more kills since i can hit the guy on the other side of the wall and still turn around and continue fighting where other times u would either give up on him or chase him and get kill in the process, thus leading to less kills. M4 Carbine-Red Dot-Bandoleer-Deep Impact-Stopping Power-Any side arm cept Deagle(it sucks) <-my layout on the class i get 20-35 kills a game and only 4-15 deaths

what about frags what damage do they do and at what range do they cover?
Snipers have all the same base damage (70) but notice that their multipliers are different. In a normal match, the base max health is 100, with juggernaut it’s 140 (1.4 multiplied by 100).
Multiply 70 with w/e the multiplier says and that’s your total damage per bullet. If added with Stopping Power, Multiply 1.4 with w/e the multiplier (In this case, headshots, which is 1.5 for all snipers). 1.4 * 1.5 = 2.1 ; 2.1 * 70 = 147.
And the M4 is OK for Close-MidRange firefights. It sprays somewhat accurate and has a great fire rate (Coz SMGs are all 800+) making it good for close range. Now it’s accurate for MidRange, it just is. For Long range, it doesn’t seem to work so don’t try it. Maybe 1 bullet will hit but not all 30.
Long Range Assault Rifles = M16, G3, M14, MP44. Mp44 + single tappping = 100% accurate; I don’t know but spraying is ok for this gun sometimes.
G36C and the AK47 are somewhat odd weapons.
I’d recommend the G36C with a silencer, because its weak and has a low fire rate. It’s not a good spray gun either, but i’ve seem to do OK with a silencer. If you don’t use Stopping Power, you mind as well not use this gun because again, it’s weak and has low damage.
AK47 + RDS/Silencer = close-MidRange. It has a high Fire Rate which makes it an ok close range weapon. With an ACOG, the Range is Increased. Stopping Power + ACOG makes it better. From the Create-A-Class menu, it shows the Range Bar almost at the end. I usually get 2 shot kills, unless the range is ridiculous (Sniper range). Don’t expect to snipe with this gun though, the main point is the High Damage at Long Range; If you don’t wanna use a MachineGun
M4 Carbine,

Bandolier
Stopping Power
Steady Aim
With Stopping power and steady aim, you can shoot without sights rivalling Mp5, and it has great mid range kill rating, and I’ve poached quite a few from range, as long as they don’t see you first.
Overall gun for all types of strategies, this is probably the best.
However, its not best for each group:
Close range- Mp5
Mid Range- Ak47
Long Range- M10A4
On the chart for shotguns it says 40/30 - 10 x8 meaning at long range it should take 2 shots at long ’shotgun’ range in a regular deathmatch but I’ve found in long ’shotgun’ range situations its takes a 3rd or 4th shot which would be 240/320 damage, well over base health of 100. Explain please. And for questions about grip on shotguns I find it make damage more efficient/better at longer ranges.

Hey, i was playing cod4 today on the PC and i decided to use the red dot sight on the ak47, i thought the ak was bugged with it, but it worked really well and took out all the JUGGs.
I the tried it on my ps3 and it seemed the same, has a new patch come out, or…

Knifing suck with g3 silenced why?
I have had serious Hit detection problems, with acog snipers, namely the m40 and the .50 cal why is this does a new patch need to come out.
If the weapons were going to model reality a little bit, the G3 and M14 would have M21 damage 70 and the AK would have the 50-40 (original M14) damage and high penetration. M16 and M4 properties should stay about the same, but the AK-74U should have damage, penetration and recoil similar to the M4. The SAW should have medium penetration to be roughly equal to the M16 ballistically. M60 and RPD should be M21 damage like the G3 and M14 but have very high recoil unless prone/using bipod. The .50 cal should be more than twice the damage of any other weapon, any kind of hit should be a kill. With that said, you shouldn’t be able to shoot with any accuracy at all unless prone and there would need to be a server option to limit the # of them issued (or sniper kits in general). The P90 should have ballistics elevated to the current AK74u (so the P90 should have medium penetration and 40-20 damage). The beretta should have the same damage and range as the miniuzi but with more accuracy. The USP’s range is fine but its power should be elevated to the 40-20 of an MP5, the same for the 1911, and the 1911’s range should be equal to the USP. In general, all the rifles in the game should be a bit more powerful relative to the pistols.
it seems to me that when you have an acog scop on a sniper its almost imposable to get a kill.
your chart is great and yes acogs on sniper rifles are rubbish
