COD4 Call of Duty 4 1.7 Quick Fix Patch Download
Just a few weeks after the 1.6 patch we have the Call of Duty 4 1.7 patch for PC players, Click to Download the Call of Duty 4 1.7 Patch. Unfortunately this patch is much smaller and doesn’t contain any new maps for Call of Duty 4, only fixing a few technical exploits. Make sure you have 1.6 installed for Call of Duty 4 before you download 1.7.
Here is exactly what the patch changes; it corrects an problem that allowed players to mess with console dvars on multiplayer server matches. Click to Download the Call of Duty 4 1.7 Patch It fixes a crash that happens when a Sabotage matches on Chinatown are tied and go into over time. Finally it corrects a language error where game icons would show up in English even if the original copy of the game was in a different language. Again no huge changes but it is important to download it so you can play on all servers and so the video game runs more smoothly.

My computer automatically downloaded this patch and now i only have like 3 servers, whats up with that. I had all the other patches.
You might not see many servers at this point because the servers also need to update to 1.7. People with the 1.7 patch can’t see 1.6 servers. As the servers update to 1.7 you will be able to see them. It shouldn’t take them long to do this.

I have installed the patch, and now I can’t connect to any server, I have always the message server connection time out.

That’s odd, I have personally downloaded the 1.7 patch myself from the same source as the rest of you and it works perfectly. Have you already downloaded the 1.6 patch? Is your internet connection running consistently? My only suggestion would be to restart your computer and see if that changes anything.
I downloaded the new patch 1.7 and now it says when i want to play in Broadcast i need 1.6????? what the heck is wrong with it?
As stated before, until each server updates to 1.7, you will not be ale to play in them. It was the same with the other patches as well, within a couple days of the release of the patch, the server admins will apply the patch, and all will be well. If you play regularly on a server with an admin that is (busy/lazy/else) you may have to play somewhere else until they get it done. No worries, mate.

Guys, Help! I can’t even select Multiplayer on my CoD4! I don’t know what’s wrong. Any help?
ive just install the 1.7 patch. and now i carnt go on any server the game just crashes back to the desktop.
i’m useing windows Vista and i had the same prob’s with the 1.6 patch. but when i went to there website for help it said to uninstall the game and reinstall it. So i did it worked did the 1.6 patch but not with this 1.7 patch.
i have installed patch 1.7 and i can’t play in servers with version 1.6…please…i want a solution…

If you have the 1.7 patch you simply can’t play on 1.6 servers. Wait for the servers to update and you will be able to play on them.
Once I installed (and I tested this) the 1.7 patch all of the Multiplayer servers dissappeared.
I am guessing (and please feel free to call me stupid here) that at some point in the last week that some Server somewhere would have updated to 1.7. So why dont they show up?
Oh but wait there is the incredibly witty RESTART YOUR PC line which never works because anyone with 1/2 an IQ would have already done that.
Then there is the “intermittent network connection” line, because lets face it if you are a hardcore COD4 player you would play with a dodgy adsl link.
So instead of telling everyone to wait till the servers update. It might just be better to fix an obvious issue.
Look I honestly don’t know why the patch isn’t working for your particular computer. Most, but not all servers have updated to 1.7, so you might not be able to connect to every single server out there. I am not psychic, I do not do technical support for the patches, I don’t have any hand in creating the patches, I just post a download link. What I posted were some simple solutions to common problems with the patches. If those don’t work you really need to contact the official technical support for the game.
I understand cod4source please dont get me wrong. You do a great job.
Didnt help that Punkbuster has not only released their latest product but it has radical changes to the way it works.
All I can say is that even with the new punkbuster up till 1.6 works fine(I un-installed and re-installed)but when the 1.7 goes in boom. No servers. At all. Anywhere.

I was on, and installed 1.6, and then, without rebooting installed 1.7, which I think is causing my computer to lock up now every time I try to find a server. I’m going to uninstall the game and start over from scratch.

i informed that a program can change your version 1.7 to 1.6..is it true???if yes what is this program?
I don’t know of any program that can bring you back to 1.6.

hey guys, i just had the normal cod4 without installin any patches, but it started sayin connection timed out after a while so thought id upgrade as that might have been the problem? and now i cant even see any servers on 1.7 :S any help would be great cheers
All the servers where I’m on are not updating to 1.7 so I can’t play them. Does somebody knows if there’s a way to delete 1.7 so I have 1.6 again. Because its real anoying

I just found this website while looking for a reason that i can no longer play any multiplayer games now that i have loaded 1.7. there are 8600 servers out there but i can’t play them. Wow that is an improvement.
i got 1.6 and i loved it but then i downloded 1.7 IT WON’T WORK i cant go on any internet severs and i dont know how to remove it :’(

I went to play on my usual server, it said i coudnt because it was 1.7 so i updated and now it doesnt show any servers… wonderful

Just got done playing through the whole singleplayer when Xfire popped up and installed patch 1.7 for me. Now COD4 refuses to play SinglePlayer. What the hell! I can play online in punkbuster fine but cannot play singleplayer? Let me guess the only solution is to turn to the HACKER community to fix this problem?
If I have to resort to a No DVD patch and punkbuster kills my computer I will sue!

I installed 1.6 the 1.7 and I am getting terrible pings. I used to be at 34 on some servers. Now I cant find anything less than 120. Some are 500 and more. What gives. I can’t find any fixes for this problem.
This 1.7 is a fu@!$##!@ joke! how retarded are the programmers for not giving us a little warning!!! starting to remind me of microsoft with there fake warnings of an important update needed just to have us download a file to make sure our windows OS’s are not pirated.
hey ok… i downloaded 1.6 and 1.7 patches. now when i go to play COD$ multiplayer… i have the new maps.. but my lvl 55 profile isnt there. it asks me to make a new profile. i have the patches downloaded. but where do i put them and what do i do to make it so i have the new patches working with my previous profile.

ive had the same problem on vista 64bit also but managed to work out that the game only crashes on multiplayer due to some audio hd drivers , so ive removed HD sound drivers and all works fine again…and yes after reboot your default sound drivers are back again…hope this helps a few out
there is ways also to get your 55 back but its a little bit of a long process, try google search under [cod4 level 55] and you should see the answers to your issue
I updated to 1.7, couldn’t see ANY servers. Unistalled PB, then re-installed and everything was ok:

I’ve updated to the new patch and its ok the multiplayer but i can’t play singleplayer, it might be cuz we have to get another crack equal to the version of teh patch-1.7 is this case- but i cant find the damn crack…can anybody help plz?

first patch with 1.5, with the new maps, then patch 1.6 then 1.7
i ve tryied to unistall punkbuster and reinstall again but the problem with the servers exists, i can see anything!!! please if someone nows the solution just answer!

I went from 1.5 to 1.7 and now I can only see 4 servers, and they are all version 1.5. wtf? I really dont want to uninstall this game and start over.

If you guys are unhappy with the 1.7/1.6 patch, there is a way to restore your old patch, now to do this you need to have downloaded the patch within 5 days of my post. Go to: Start> Search > System Restore. Then your computer will roll back to its previous patch! Ur welcome! By the way, this isn’t good way to test the 1.6/1.7 patches
Gordy, I had the same prob. You need to pop the cod4 cd into ur pc
and then right click on it then click explore then u need to find that file, code post gfx mp.ff and copy it then paste it in your cod4 folder in program files it will replace your old one and multiplayer should work again. I think you find the folder where the post code gfx mp.ff thing is ethier in your hard drive > program files > activision > cod4modernwarfare > main or cod4modernwarfare > zone > english. Try both of those folders, the code post gfx mp.ff file will be with a lot of other .ff files. You will find it. Its like that on the disc too.

Hi peeps, I recently got the game so I’m on version 1.0
I can see loads of servers and play normally on them, rank up etc.
Now the question is: should I patch to 1.6 , 1.7? I have downloaded the 2 files (one for 1.0-1.6 and one for 1.6-1.7) but i haven’t installed them yet.
I see many people have problems with the patches here so I’m having second thoughts wheather I should install them or not. Any help is appreciated

… Ok well new player… Personally I think downloading the 1.6/1.7 patch is a waste of time.. There is hardly any servers. The only reason I would do it is for the zombie mod. (look it up :D)
hye all, when you install patch 1.7 over 1.6 and you can’t play the multiplayer cod 4 annymore just install another 1.7 patch from another site. this worked for me.
