Everyone knows Snipers are good at long range, but how are they in close combat? Are they better than Pistols? At close range bolt action Snipers are obviously bad but the singe shot weapons are surprisingly strong. They have terrible accuracy but being able to spam them crazy fast and only needing to land one shot to land a kill makes up for that. I figured the best way to show this was with a quick Call of Duty montage of my own close range Sniper kills with the Barrett 50 Cal. If you have the bandwidth I would suggest clicking on the embedded link after the jump and watching the high quality version at youtube. Read more

The increased damage from Stopping Power and increased health from Juggernaut cancel each other out when each of them is equipped to opposing players. This does not make the perks equal however. Stopping Power provides an offensive benefit while Juggernaut provides a defensive one. This distinction makes the means each perk offers a distinct benefit, and that one is better on the whole.

Stopping Power – The additional 1.4 bullet damage multiplier from Stopping Power means you can eliminate an enemy faster and more easily. With Stopping Power snipers can kill in one shot, M16’s in one burst and LMG’s in a single spray and pray. Read more

Radar, Airstrikes and Helicopters play a huge role in Call of Duty. Radar provides a small increment advantages while Airstrikes and Helicopters can completely turn the tempo of the game. These reinforcements make it difficult to bounce back once the enemy gains the advantage. That is why it is so critical to get to the five kills first, so you can get the first tempo advantage. Here is a pretty cool I found on youtube of using C4 aggressively as opposed to using it passively like a Claymore. This is why C4 is so underrated in Call of Duty, people try to use it to camp when Claymores are a strictly better camping explosive. Instead you should take advantage of the C4’s fast timer and use it almost like you would a grenade. C4’s short range is still a big weaknesses as an aggressive weapon but if you play it properly it can be quite strong.

To improve at Call of Duty you have to improve at not only offensive strategies, but defensive ones. A key defensive strategy for and all games are moves that make it more difficult for your opponent to land bullets on their target. In this particular game you have to be fast with two simple moves, jumping and going prone. You can then combine these to form more complex moves and defensive measures. The first step to being fast with Jump and Prone is making sure you can physically reach them easily on your controls. After you change your controls to something comfortable practice jumping and going prone over and over until you can do it on an almost sub conscious level. The next step is learning what situations to use these moves.

Jumping – Jumping is useful in close range confrontations to avoid bullets. Jumping in long range battles is not going to do anything because you are still easily in the field of view of the enemy. Read more
